West India Dock
Location: Canary Wharf, London
Sector: Residential Property
Project Overview
82 West India Dock Road, known as Vetro, was a 30-storey mixed-use development delivering 48 private apartments, 18 affordable homes and a 400-bed hotel in the heart of Canary Wharf. Completed in 2023, the scheme transformed a long-vacant brownfield site into a striking curved-glass landmark overlooking West India Dock.
Our Approach
VIP worked closely with our customer to supply a comprehensive package of multi-layer composite pipe and fittings, alongside a significant volume of Marley HDPE drainage. The nature of the scheme, combining residential apartments with a high-occupancy hotel, required reliable, efficient systems suited to varied usage demands. Our team’s product and industry knowledge ensured the correct specification across domestic water and drainage applications.
Execution
The MLCP system was used to support hot and cold water services throughout the residential and hotel areas, offering flexibility and speed of installation across multiple risers. Marley HDPE provided a durable, high-performance drainage solution designed to cope with sustained usage from both private homes and hotel facilities. Deliveries were carefully phased to align with the build sequence, and our team remained responsive to technical queries and call-offs, ensuring installers had what they needed, when they needed it.
The Outcome
The completed development now stands as a prominent addition to the Canary Wharf skyline, bringing new homes and hospitality space to a regenerated waterfront setting. With dependable pipework and drainage systems supplied on schedule and backed by attentive support, VIP contributed to a smooth services installation. The project demonstrated our ability to support complex mixed-use developments with practical advice, reliable products and customer care that goes beyond the basics.
